Determine the cause of 20 people hospitalized in Dien Bien

It is known that this water source is a natural, untreated water source, brought by people for daily use.

During the verification process, the Dien Bien Provincial Center for Disease Control sent 02 water samples and expanded testing for the active ingredient Diquat. The results show that, the upstream water of 05 households in Co Puc village, Hua Thanh commune, Dien Bien district has a Diquat dibromiden index of 0.13 pg/L. This is a substance commonly used to kill weeds.

And at the water tank of Mr. Lo Van Panh’s family, Co Puc village, Hua Thanh commune, Dien Bien district, the results showed that Diquat dibromide was 0.10 pg/L.

Currently, the Department of Health of Dien Bien province has directed the Dien Bien District Health Center, Hua Thanh Commune People’s Committee and Commune Health Station to instruct people to use temporary alternative water sources for domestic purposes.

Cook cooked food, boiled drinks, and clean water containers used for domestic purposes. Only use water sources when there has been a conclusion that the water quality is safe by competent authorities.

Dien Bien Province Center for Disease Control re-tested upstream water samples after Dien Bien province’s functional units completed environmental treatment at the watershed of 5 households in Co Puc village, Hua Thanh commune, Dien Bien district.

After re-evaluating water quality, we will organize instructions for people to protect and use domestic water sources in the coming time.
